Right next to water, tea is  is the most widely consumed beverage in the world. After beer, coffee  is also hugely popular in the western civilization. And both drinks have been around for a long time.

Legend says  that tea was first discovered by the Emperor of China 4000 years ago.  One day, while  he was boiling water under a tree,  leaves accidentally fell into the pot. After drinking the boiled water with leaves, he was surprised by its taste and goodness. Tea then became popular among scholars and priests in China and Japan, who drank tea to stay awake while studying  and meditating. This is why tea has always been associated with mindfulness, calm, spirituality, and health.

On the other hand, coffee seems to appear in the latter part. Believed to have originated in the Ethiopian highlands, where legend says a goatherd noticed his goats became hyperactive after eating certain berries from a tree. Coffee then spread to monks at monasteries, where they drank the beverage to keep them alert while praying. From there, it began making its way across the Arabian Peninsula. Both coffee and tea remained Eastern beverages for a long time. Its is only at the later part of the 17th century that these hot drinks appeared in Europe and North America.
